Made certain alteration round the yards in A and B halls.
Removed the lower yard ramp and upon the site erected a
prison laundry and a large lean-to shed for washing purposes.

6. On 10th. June, 1898 I suggested the demolition of B
wing contain 17 cells, and upon the site the erection of a
hall of 78 cells, this work was approved and when completed added conderably to the yard space of the prison. The prison
cookhouse was reconstructed and several minor improvements
made in the upper East yard.
8. From 1898 I have superintended the printing and book-
binding department of the prison. Today the whole of the job
printing for the Government is done by prison labour. Please
see table attached marked C. This table shows the value of
work executed in the prison as compared with what was done
before I took up the work.
7. The industrial workshop has been twice enlarged in order · to cope with the work since it was built. In 1909 I suggested the demolition of the old offices etc, and on the site thus
obtained build a new hall of 78 cells, office for the Asst.
Superintendent, Reception Room for the prisoners, Store room,
Boiler room, Solicitors room etc.

8. The whole of the above work with exception of building en-
new halle was carried out under my personal supervision and directions. The prisoners had first to be taught bricklaying
and then put to the work.
9. On my retirement on pension after completed 32 years
servicesI naturally thought my services to the Government, apart from that of discipline officer would be recognised
and I would benefit under clause 7 of 1902 Pension minute,
